In a touching tribute to the life and death of Sadako Sasaki of Hiroshima, Ismailova Theatre of Dance puts its signature twist on the beloved story of 1000 paper cranes. Enfolding elements of Sadako's story into this new vision of survival, Wings aspires to look beneath the shadows of a broken community and their struggle for rebirth. In the midst of of the great turmoil, resistance to fear is found in a single act of hope: folding cranes. The unique physical style of dance that Ismailova is known for showcases the moving story of a vulnerable soul caught in the aftermath of the atomic bomb.Wings r! eleases an emotion-driven performance through the storytelling talents of tango, tap, contemporary and "flying low" technique of dance. The live elements of violin and voice underscore the moving journey that asks the question: Can ancient art heal modern wounds?
